Job Description

Position Overview:
The Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in promoting the mission, programs, and events of Upper Albany Main Street (UAMS). Working closely with the Communications Coordinator and program staff, this position supports marketing and outreach initiatives that strengthen community partnerships, promote local businesses, and expand awareness of UAMS services. This unpaid position offers valuable hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, digital promotion, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote UAMS programs, events, and initiatives within the Upper Albany business district and surrounding communities.
  • Maintain and update digital marketing channels, including website content, Google Business listings, and online directories.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to ensure consistent branding and messaging across social media, printed materials, and digital platforms.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and event signage.
  • Coordinate community outreach activities, including distributing promotional materials, supporting local events, and engaging merchants and partner organizations.
  • Track marketing performance and outreach results using analytics tools and internal tracking systems.
  • Assist in photographing or documenting UAMS events for future marketing and storytelling use.
  • Support relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and community organizations to enhance visibility and foster collaboration.
  • Participate in planning meetings to align marketing efforts with organizational goals and upcoming initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred (not required).
  • Basic knowledge of digital marketing tools and website content management (e.g., Google Business, Wix, WordPress, or similar).
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and community outreach practices.
  • Creative thinker with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable engaging with small business owners and community members in person or virtually.
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with a passion for community development and nonprofit work.
